Pictures of the Brawa 643 railcar. This is a digital unit made by Brawa. It happens that I took a BR 643 from Kaiserslautern Hbf to Bingen (Rhein) Hbf. (Click here to see pictures of the actual BR 643 and pictures taken from its cab on the way to Bingen.) The Brawa model is of a train to Bingen (Rhein) Hbf. I had the good fortune of riding in the cab of that train. I took a number of pictures along the route and these can be seen by clicking on the small picture below.

Pictures of two BLS Ae 8/8 one made by HAG and the other by Roco. There are also pictures of a HAG BLS Ae 4/4 and an Re 4/4. These engine are powerful and finely detailed. Note the differences in the Roco and HAG engines. Both the Roco and the HAG Ae 8/8 have two motors. These are great looking engines on any layout.

Several pictures of a BLS Ae 8/8 made by HAG. It is seen pulling a series of München passenger cars. Although this is a BLS engine I have created a scenario that it is being tested by the DB for use. This is one of the most powerful engines on the layout.

Several pictures of a DB E95 electric double lok from Brawa with a Roco 10739 decoder which is equal to a Märklin 6090 decoder. A very powerful engine that was the 1997 Engine of the Year. Very finely detailed. The passenger cars are Märklin Prussian compartment cars.

Several views of an SBB CFF "Churchill Pfeil" 8/8 railcar. Compare it to the Märklin Red Arrow. This is not a Märklin engine nor is it a HAG engine. Can you name the company that manufactured this railcar? If you look at all the pictures you will find the answer in the caption of the last photo. This railcar has an Uhlenbrock digital decoder, not a 6090. While it has greater programming capabilities it is harder to program than a 6090 and appears to be sluggish compared to the 6090.


These are night scenes showing the (HAG 154) SBB railcar with the old logo (SBB FFS on one side and SBB CFF on the other). The Calw station is in the background to the right. A second communter train, pulled by a (HAG 152) SBB CFF FFS railcar (newer logo), is in the adjacent platform. The (Märklin 3611) Lady Wurtemburg engine and train is on the siding closest to the station.


A view of the Calw Station. Two SBB CFF FFS commuter trains are seen in tracks 2 and 3 waithing for a inter-regional train to arrive. This station is the point through which all passenger trains pass with stops to allow transfer to the commuters. There are several scenes of the street adjacent to the station.
